4 Day Rangitikei River Itinerary

We depart Ohakune around 7am and shuttle you south towards the Rangitikei River. Arriving at River Valley, your canoe trip starts at the end of the Grade 3 white water rafting section, over the following 4 Days you will cover the deep papa gorges down to Ohingaiti. We pass under several of the huge viaducts on the main trunk railway, as well as the old bungy and rope swing at Gravity Canyon. The first day has some of the best scenery on the river and some challenging and fun rapids. The river gets easier the further down we get.

We can be really flexible with campsites each day and simply pull up to a spot that we feel suits the group for the night - relax and enjoy your surroundings, light a fire, go fishing... One night is sure to be spent at the famous Mangaweka Campground where a dramatic gorge wall becomes the backdrop for this unique riverside tent setting.

If you've done the Whanganui River canoe trips, or some paddling before then we know that this trip wont disappoint you. We've had overseas guests who rate the Rangitikei over many other rivers that they have paddled.
