New Bridge to Nowhere Bike Trip

Canoe Safaris Ltd.

We are excited to announce that we have a new trip available for guests this season! We now offer guided bike rides to the Bridge to Nowhere. This area, one of the most remote valleys of the Whanganui river, was hastily opened up by the government for Settlement by Discharged Servicemen during the 1914-18 war, the plan was a failure.

This is a spectacular, day long journey that will take participants along the new 'Mountains to Sea Cycleway' with views of the Tongariro, Whanganui and Egmont National Parks. There is a great, fun 7km decent back down into the valley where the journey continues onto the Bridge to Nowhere. After visiting the Bridge to Nowhere, a short ride to the boat, leads to a journey up the Whanganui river back to Pipriki, where our bus grabs all the riders and brings everyone back to Ohakune.
