About Canoe Safaris

Canoe Safaris was formed in 1979 to offer unique river holidays for clients with little or no river experience. After more than 20 years of successful trips and the comments of thousands of happy customers, we are confident that our trips have the right mixture of adventure, high comfort, and are good value for money. We cater for a wide age range from families with children to many clients over 60.

We take great pride in having the best equipment on the river and it is updated regularly. Canoes and Rafts are chosen to perform best on our rivers, and our tents and camping equipment are designed for durability, comfort and waterproofness. Our guides are professionals and trained in first aid, river rescue, local history and also produce superb 3 course meals at the end of the day. They are all enthusiastic paddlers and many have worked on rivers all over the world.

We are members of the NZ Rafting Association, and hold guiding Concessions for the Whanganui National Park and Kaweka Forest Park. The Food – our reputation says it all – simply the best. If you think it’s rough eating on river trips then we’ll guarantee you an interesting surprise! New Zealand bottled wine accompanies all evening meals.
